NSD Predictions for Uncommitted CANE targets

Well, we are on the eve of National Signing Day and this past weekend we took some major hits. The biggest one being last night when Florida flipped RB Jordan Scarlett, the one recruit we could not afford to lose.

Anyway, here's who I think some uncommitted targets that we're still after end up:

CB Rashad Fenton (Carol City) - We came in the game late, but too late, according to Fenton and his people. The contenders are Florida, South Carolina, and Louisville.

Prediction: South Carolina

ATH Marcus Lewis (Washington, DC Gonzaga) - Late last night, Lewis said he would delay his decision until early evening tomorrow because now FSU and Texas came into the game. That's not a good sign especially to have FSU in the mix. You know Jimbo will do anything to stick it to UM any way possible and this looks like a case of that here

Prediction: Florida State

DT Kevin Scott (Los Angeles, CA Bishop Mora Salesian) - With Ole Miss out of it when they picked up Ross Donelly from TX last night. So it's between SC and us. This is one in play here, now that Rasheem Green is going to SC. This is one Golden, D, and Jethro personally have been on for a while. This is one we absolutely MUST have in this class. However, most of the indications believe Scott will end up staying on the West Coast.

Prediction: SC

RB Dexter Williams (Winter Garden West Orange) - With Scarlett now at Florida, getting Williams in this class now becomes a MAJOR priority. With Louisville out of it, its really between Notre Dame (who has really made a push late), and us. I think in the end, Williams will not be in this class and we will have whiffed on the two prized backs in this class.

Prediction: Notre Dame

WR Terrell Chatman (Baton Rouge, LA Central) - With Scarlett flipping to UF last night, this would be another devastating hit, if Chatman flips. Now, TCU is now the leader if he does flip, but the hat is making a push late to keep him home. I think he'll flip and we let another stud get away.

Prediction: TCU

OT Tyree St. Louis (Bradenton IMG Academy) - Been committed since last year. Yes, he's still committed to us, but what's more concerning is that Florida has been making a strong play late in the game to get him to flip to UF. If I'm Kehoe, who has been on this kid during the process, I'm very livid that there's a chance this kid bolts for Gainesville, and those in the Hecht, it would be yet another hit if St. Louis bolts. In the end, I think we keep him.

Prediction: CANES

QB/ATH Torrance Gibson (American Heritage) - We made a push late to get him. An Ohio State commit for a while now. But realistically, if there's a flip to be made here, its going to be between LSU and Auburn. In the end, though, I can't see it happening

Prediction: Ohio State

QB Lamar Jackson (Boynton Beach) - A Louisville commit. Florida made a push here, as well as us, but in the end, look for him to stay put with commitment.

Prediction: Louisville

QB Evan Shirreffs (Jefferson, GA) - Consider the other schools that have recruited him (Georgetown, Brown, Columbia, and VMI), Coley has been recruiting this kid for a while now. In the end, look for him to end up in Coral Gables.

Prediction: CANES

WR Antonio Callaway (BTW) - Florida has been making a push late as well as FSU. But in the end, I think we'll end up with him

Prediction: CANES

DT Kendrick Norton (Jacksonville Trinity Christian) - You figure with Scott likely not coming here, getting Norton becomes a MUST. We're the leaders to get him. Auburn is making a strong push in the end here. With Jethro recruiting him, there will be very glum faces in the Hecht Center if we were to strike out on Norton as well, with Green off the board and Scott likely off the board. Not getting another DT in this class would be completely devastating, especially when you consider after next season, it's going to be extremely thin there on the interior of the DL. Getting Norton is a MUST.

Prediction: CANES

DE Shelton Johnson (Delray Beach Atlantic) - Right now, FSU is the favorites for him. We're making a push here. But when you consider that when he was sick, the FSU coaches came down to visit him at home. That tells me a lot on where I think he'll end up and it sadly, won't be here.

Prediction: Florida State

DE Austrian Robinson (Pawling, NY Trinity Pawling School) - Maryland is the leader. Ole Miss is in the mix there. Jethro has been on this kid and made an OV here back on January 23rd and back on Friday, Jethro and D made an in-home visit to him. However, in the end, it won't be enough.

Prediction: Ole Miss

CB Sheldrick Redwine (Killian) - A Louisville commit. However, there's a good chance he flips here. Its been us and Auburn for that. I have to believe in the end, this is one to go our way.

Prediction: CANES

We'll see it all plays out tomorrow, but its realistically not looking very good right now. I want to see the interview on ESPNU with Al and look at the body language and the look on his face. That will be a tell tale sign of how this class rates.

Recruiting News 1/22/15

Another indictment on Al and the defensive staff from H.S. coaches in South Florida. This comes from Ryan Barlow on Joe Rose's show yesterday.

Bartow's Comments on Al and the state of CANES recruiting in South Florida to Joe Rose 1/21/15

That's not a good sign, especially with FSU doing very well down here and now UF, with Randy on their staff, they will do very well in the coming years.

If we don't get our act together soon, the 2016 class is in serious jeopardy.

Mario is getting who he wants to Bama, Strong is getting some recruits to Texas. Brewster is getting kids to FSU. Richt is getting kids to UGa. We didn't offer any of the kids that are going to UGa. That's a HUGE problem.

Bartow says that facilities are important and winning and being on TV. Urban winning a title in Columbus, they'll be coming here more and they already have Bosa coming in the '16 class.

Hearing Bartow's comments yesterday on Joe Rose's show, those in the Hecht Center think they can ride this out and it will go away. I have news for them, it won't. This is going to be something a New President at UM will have to tackle early on in his/her presidency, and that's addressing the football program and determining Blake's and Al's future. Right now, we are taking a huge beating and if we don't finish strong, the calls for Al's ouster will only get louder and louder if they aren't that already.

Its not looking good inside the Hecht football offices right now.

However, from StateoftheU.com back on Monday and my takes:
  • Booker T. Washington CB Davante Davis visited campus, but in all likelihood will end up elsewhere. He's currently committed to Texas, but like Tim Irvin before him, Davis may be considering a flip to Auburn. I want to add that he will visit Gainesville tomorrow for his OV. However, I think he'll stay with his commitment to Texas here.
  • A late riser on the recruiting trail, DT Kevin Scott (Los Angeles, CA) was visited by Al Golden on the first day of the contact period, was given a scholarship offer, and scheduled an official visit to Miami for next weekend. The 6'5" 280lb Scott is being hotly pursued by several teams. Like most kids from LA, USC is thought to be the leader. A strong visit to Coral Gables may change that. We'll have to see when he comes to campus tomorrow for the OV. Considering that we need DTs in this class, getting Scott is critical.
  • WR commit Lawrence Cager visited Alabama this weekend and enjoyed it, but left still committed to Miami. Cager will be coming to Coral Gables for a visit tomorrow. With Gosier now decommitted, keeping Cager in this class is a MUST.
  • There's talk that WR commit Terrell Chatman may be close to flipping from Miami. He's my personal favorite WR in this class, so I hope that those rumors are unsubstantiated. Chatman is scheduled to visit Coral Gables on January 30th.  This kid is committed to us, and will visit us for the last visit. He's in Tempe for his OV to Arizona State tomorrow. He visited TCU last week.
  • After the decommitment of Dwayne Lawson, Miami has been looking for a QB in this class. And, after doing some searching, may have found one. Coming for a visit next weekend will be Evan Sherriffs (Jefferson, GA), a 6'6" 195lb player with great height and good developmental skills. As I said previously "don't be surprised if a lower ranked/unknown player from outside FL is the take for this class." Should Sherriffs, whose only current offers are Columbia and Virginia Military Institute, earn an offer and commit, that would most definitely be the case. But, before you go all doom and gloom, watch Sherriffs' highlights. You'll see some things you'll like. I suspect this kid will commit to us possibly as soon as his visit ends tomorrow.
  • WR target Daylon Charlot (Patterson, LA) visited Alabama. Widely considered a heavy lean to the Tide, Charlot left uncommitted. He did, however, drop this cryptic tweet during his visit: "Seems like everything is coming together" Take it for what its worth, however, in the end, I believe Bama will end up getting him. That's really an LSU-Bama battle there.
  • Former RB commit Dexter Williams visited Notre Dame and greatly enjoyed his visit ($). Williams says he is still high on both Louisville and Miami, in addition to Notre Dame. If he wants to play with friend Jalen Julius, the pick will be Louisville. If he wants to be close to home, the pick will be Miami. If he wants to go with the late charging school, the pick will be Notre Dame. In short, I have no idea which way Williams is going as of this moment. But, with a renewed sense that Jordan Scarlett will be in this class, Miami's pursuit of Williams isn't as important as it was a few days ago. With Scarlett now firmly in the fold, My gut tells me that in the end, it'll be Louisville that wins this battle holding off Notre Dame.
  • DE Arden Key is on campus for his OV today. He is scheduled to make an announcement on February 2nd. But, in my mind, his recruitment will go until NSD. He visited us on Monday and is schedule to visit South Carolina tomorrow and Auburn next Friday for his final visit. That's really a UGa vs South Carolina battle there. In the end, my gut tells me that Key will end up with the Bulldogs.
  • Targets LB John Houston and DT Rasheem Green, both 5-star players and teammates from Junipero Serra HS in Gardena, CA, visited Southern Cal this weekend. Each player brought multiple family members with them (Houston was said to have brought his grandparents along for the visit) and were on campus with 9 USC commits. I think that Houston is 100% USC, while Green is still in play for Miami. With Houston, SC is the favorite to get him and he has no other visits scheduled. I agree with StateoftheU on this, Houston likely ends up at SC. As for Green, that's a three-team race between us, SC, and Arizona State, whom he visits tomorrow for his last OV. In the end though, I think Green stays on the West Coast and ends up at SC.
  • DL target Austrian Robinson enjoyed his visit and moved the Canes up his leader board. Even with that positive move, Maryland still leads. In the end, I see Robinson signing with the Terrapins come National Signing day. Robinson visited us last week, and is in Oxford for his OV to Ole Miss tomorrow and in Columbus next Friday for his final OV before NSD. I'm going to disagree and I believe Urban is going to make that late push in the end and land this kid.
  • DE target Russel Ude isn't likely to end up in this class. He's committed to Cal and will visit the Golden Bears next weekend. That visit should effectively end his recruitment. I'm going to disagree here. This might be a candidate for a flip here. He visits us tomorrow and visited Oregon last weekend. If we make a strong impression tomorrow on this end, we might be able to flip him to us.
I didn't add Richard MacIntosh from Cardinal Gibbons because he's committed to us firmly and he visits us tomorrow.

National Signing Day schedule Updates

Wednesday, Feb. 5 (National Signing Day)

Morning
J.C. Jackson has committed to Florida this morning.

Damian Prince has announced on ESPNU that he has committed to Maryland.

Travonte Valentine has committed to LSU.

Struck out on both JC and Valentine. Losing Valentine was HUGE because it was in a need position too: DT. In the end, we just couldn't overcome the rumors of Al threatening to leave for Penn State and him having the meetings the same Saturday as the Army caused Valentine to decommit that day. It wasn't enough in the end and Valentine is off to Baton Rouge as a result.

Afternoon
Myles Autry committed on ESPNU to Georgia Tech.

Latest recruiting tidbits 1/20/14

According to a source close to the BTW and Ice Harris Camp, here's some interesting information that will be very interesting to discuss:

1. This source confirmed what I thought all along about the Kirkland Fiasco last year 72 hours before NSD. The Kirkland fiasco is was on Al Golden's head. What I was told was that Ice TOLD Al and our staff that we had Kirkland lock, stock, and barrel. However, Kirkland wanted to do the whole hat deal, and Al wasn't very happy about it ata all. From what I was told by this source, Al sent Barrow there after their championship parade, to give him an ultimatum, either commit right there and then and dump the whole ceremony, or we pull your 'ship.
You know what happened after that. Denver was devastated!! and you could see Al's face on ESPNU that day when he was interviewed. You could see the beaten look on his face.

2. I had always though we were the favorites for #6 Matthew Thomas. However, I was told by my source, that Ice said to Al that #6 was never coming. The Thomas camp was very stubborn and thought they could get him to change his mind and come to the U, but that was not to be at the end of the day. As for Skai Moore, he really wanted to come here, but we never offered him a 'ship and that was another mistake by Al and the staff.

3. As for Ice's son, Treon. his committment to FSU, was all Jimbo, as he personally recruited him.  This was his baby. In Treon's workouts, Jimbo spent an entire Day with him getting to know him better and in the film room, office showing him how he would use them in their offense--as a QB (to me is unlikely considering there's Jameis Winston that will be starting for another 1-2 years up there). Jimbo personally assured the family, over and over how he can be effective in their offense--as a QB

4. Here's something to watch here: It seems that Auburn is about to get in the game for Treon at QB and from what I'm told, he will visit the Plains very soon.  Gus (Malzahn) loves Treon and he loves Gus. Watch that one very closely in the final weeks leading up to NSD, though I read this morning that UF is also in the mix here for Harris. In Malzahn's offense, Harris could be a great one that people talk about after he leaves for the League.

5. On Mark Walton. this kid loves our team, the school and wants to stay home. However, according to my source, unfortunately, he will NOT be able to re-classify. From what I'm told, Ice said that Mark is a good student, but there's still much he needs to do here, more on the mental end, than physical. This young man was given very bad advice that those inside the Walton camp. This kid will be an animal to deal with. He will be on the track team this offseason in order for him to get FASTER and once fall camp starts, this kid will be pounding the rock very often.

On the issue of who the better recruiter is, this source said that it's clearly Randy. He likes Al a lot, but when it comes to in-homes, Randy was better "in the home" and also he was the one who was able to get momma, grandmother, daddy, uncle, aunt - whoever - on board. When it comes to Al, he's more about the media and PR. Al wins the media game, and can win over the Mom and Dad through the Media, as opposed to in the homes.

As for the one of the two grand prizes in this class, Chad Thomas: Ice was very funny when asking about Chad. He said, to my source, you guys don't have to worry about Chad. in his words-- "He was at the UA Game throwing up The damn U every chance he could get. He told Al, you don't have to worry about Chad, he's in, you good." I was told by this same source yesterday not to worry about Bama, Texas, and FSU getting involved possibly. At the end of the day, I was told emphatically that at the end of the day, Chad will be a CANE.

My take on NCAA ruling

Well, its been over 24 hours since the NCAA came down with its ruling on us. Its what I expected the day before it came out. 9 scholarships lost over 3 years (3 per year), but no bowl ban, and to me, that's the big one right there, no more postseason bans.

Now, that the NCAA cloud is gone, we're going to see a much more aggressive Al Golden on the recruiting trail, especially in South Florida. The wall is being fortified and strengthened and teams like Florida, FSU, Notre Dame, SEC, and the Big 10 that have taken top talent away from South Florida, those days are OVER! While I understand we can't keep everyone, we're going to keep as much top talent in South Florida as possible. As the slogan for this season goes, and its very accurate here: FULL SPEED AHEAD!, and after yesterday, it takes on additional meaning as from here on going forward, it will be FULL SPEED AHEAD for us.

Great days are ahead of us and the road back to dominance starts this week vs Wake Forest at Sun Life Stadium. Hopefully, it'll be a sellout (in fact, its very close to that right now).

Report Card and Game Balls vs Florida

Just back from South Florida (came back on Monday) where I did attend the game on Saturday. Still ecstatic about the biggest win at the U since 2000, when we beat FSU in the OB that day. Couple of thoughts about the big win vs Florida.

Tackling was very good. The Defense came up big when it had to in key spots. The 5 turnovers we forced was just amazing. Of the 5 penalties for 58 yards we had in this game, only one was on the defense, and that was the PF on Luther in the 1st quarter. I thought we did a very good job shutting down their running game. Being out there a bit long for my taste (38:20). Guys were swarming and gang tackling. We forced them to punt 10 times in the game. They were 6-15 on 3rd Downs (40%), so I felt we did well on that regard. We did allow 413 yards total offense and sacked Driskel twice, both times causing fumbles, which the D recovered both times. We did have an effective pass rush in this game. We won the turnover battle in this game being a +5 in that regard. In the 4th quarter, we allowed the Gators just 2 yards rushing on 7 carries. The D bent, but didn't break. Grade: A-

Offensively, we did have some big time issues, especially after the 2nd TD pass from Stephen. Ereck Flowers gets called for two holding penalties and Allen commits a PF in the red zone, fortunately, that penalty didn't hurt us as we would score a TD four plays later. We had 143 yards in the 1st quarter, however, just 69 yards after that (68 of those total yards in the 2nd half). Also, we were 1-11 on 3rd Down conversions. That will not cut it down the road vs teams like FSU. Grade: D

Special Teams, we allowed the Blocked Punt. We had 71 yards of total returns (56 on KR yards by Duke, and the other 15 on PR yards by Dorsett). Patty had two punt for TB's, and that's not good, because that's 40 hidden yards allowed here. However he did have one of his 9 punts inside the 20. However, on the Kickoff, he had one go out of bounds, which gave UF the ball on their 35, more hidden yards allowed here. We need to be much better here and get this area of our game fixed going forward. Grade: D

Now to Game Balls. This week, there's only one game ball to hand out and it goes to the entire Defense for forcing 5 turnovers (2 INTs and 3 fumbles recovered).

Overall, solid effort, especially by the Defense, however, we can and must get better and correct some of the ME's (Mental Errors) going forward.

See you on Sept 18th for the Savannah State Preview.

2013 Miami Hurricanes 12 part Opponent series - Part 2 (Florida - Sept 7...

Sept 7th – Florida

In Part 2 of the 12 part 2013 CANE opponent series, we’re going to talk the opponent in Armageddon, which is the Florida Gators. Game time is Noon on ESPN at Sun Life Stadium. Here’s what you need to know about the Gators. Their D was just outstanding all-around vs. both the pass and the run. Their Special Teams was amazingly good. While, they will have a new kicker coming in, their special teams are still going to be a threat.

Offensively: Inconsistency was the word of the day here. One week, they’re BCS contenders, and the next, they look like garbage. Their running game in 2012 was a force to be dealt with, however, their passing game left a little to be desired. Their O-Line had a very tough time protecting Jeff Driskel, who basically held the ball too long at times and either threw picks or took sacks. As a result, their receiving corps had a very hard time getting open down field and getting YACs (yards after the catch) and they don’t have a lot of depth here at that position. Its so bad up there, that they had to convert DB Loucheiz Purifoy to a WR. They’re hoping that he can be a dual threat on both sides of the ball. While, he’ll give them some energy, don’t expect him to be that game-changing threat Gordie Lockbaum was back in the day at Holy Cross.  On the O-Line, they lost Xavier Nixon  (UFA to Washington Redskins) and James Wilson (graduation) and that line was beat up in the Spring due to suspensions and injuries,  although those on the Gators staff believe that an influx of more versatile linemen might help them against the speed rush. In the running game, they lose Mike Gillislee to graduation (drafted 5th round by the Dolphins), however, they return a force in Matt Jones, who they think will fill into Gillisee’s shoes quite nicely. However, at the end of the day, look for it to be status-quo in 2013 here.

Defensively: They lost a lot of good talent to the NFL, however, in Gainesville, they don’t rebuild, they reload. You have to remember, they lost to the League: DT Sharrif Floyd (Minnesota) LB Jon Bostic (Chicago) and S Matt Elam (Baltimore). Yet, their D should be outstanding again with that back seven and enough weapons to keep on humming. The best part about everything the defense was able to accomplish last season was that it all happened without one of the premier pass rushing prospects in college football. They get back Ronald Powell, who is the big-time pass rusher they sorely missed in 2012. He was just a man among boys out there last offseason before suffering a knee injury that cost him the entire year, but fortunately, it happened early enough to give him a full season to recover. You have a defense like that that ranked fifth in the nation getting back the one thing it was missing in 2012, which was a devastating speed rusher. If he’s the Powell before the knee injury, this team will be very dangerous.  The questions here are:
  • Will their front 7 that is loaded with 5-star athletes’ move into bigger roles?
  • Will Purifoy (also being on the other side of the ball at WR) & Marcus Roberson give them the best 1-2 CB combo in the conference??
  • Will CB Vernon Hargreaves III, be an immediate impact player as a true freshman? Did they lose a few too many players to the league, to still be good, if not better?
Special Teams:  Caleb Sturgis is gone to graduation (5th round pick by Miami Dolphins). It’ll be up either Senior PK Brad Phillips or Redshirt Freshman PK Austin Hardin to fill the shoes Sturgis leaves behind in Gainesville. How big were those shoes? He was 24-28 on field goals last season and the four that he missed, he had three of them blocked. This guy had the accuracy from 40+ yards, being 8-9 in that category, which included two of them from 50+ yards. (a 50-yarder against Georgia and a 51-yarder @A&M). They will be in close games this year again, and when you consider the O being inconsistent at times, and not taking any chances in the red zone, they are going to need a kicker that comes up big for them in key spots. They do get Kyle Christy back to handle the punting duties.

In closing, let’s make no mistake; the Gators are going to be very good again this year. Looking at their schedule, they open with Toledo at home, before coming to town the following week in Armageddon at Noon. Then after a BYE week, they host Tennessee, then go to a Kentucky team that’s going to be very much improved. After that game, they host a dangerous Arkansas team before going to Baton Rouge to play LSU and Columbia, MO the following week to play Missouri. After a 2nd BYE week, they have the cocktail party in Jacksonville vs a UGa team that some think could de-throne Bama as SEC champions. That will be the first ofa play-in series for the East. Then they close SEC play with two very tough games (Vanderbilt at Home, and a trip to South Carolina, the latter will likely decide the East and the trip to Atlanta that goes with it). After a game with Georgia Southern, who’s a very good FCS team, they close the regular season with FSU at home.

Looking at that schedule, my prediction for Florida this year is 10-2.

n Part 3 of the series, I’ll talk about Savannah State.

Countdown to UF

Everyone in South Florida knows that this is the biggest game in the area since Florida State came to the Orange Bowl in 2000. I can tell you from first hand experience that it was one of the greatest games I've ever seen in person. The atmosphere going into that game was off the charts. Some will say the 1989 game vs Notre Dame was the gold standard in reference to big game atmosphere, but I would dare say the 2000 FSU game would be up there. There hasn't been a game this big in Miami since that time. Yes, you can put the 2002 Wide Left I game in there, and the 2003 UF game as well, both of which, I attended by the way and some others in recent years (2009 vs OU and 2011 vs Ohio State), but there's something about the Gator that get my blood boiling.

  • Their fanbase: I have never seen a bunch of arrogant pricks as that fanbase in Gainesville is. If you remember 2008 up there, we had them on the ropes for 3 quarters before some BS calls and questionable penalties that weren't called would ultimately do us in. Now, they will tell you that this is nothing more than a tuneup before SEC play. I would love nothing more than to knock them off and come 4 p.m. Saturday Afternoon, their fans will have a long drive up 75 back to Gainesville knowing they got their asses kicked.
  • Their Athletic department: They know that they want no part of us anymore after this game. We've heard their BS before about wanting a "National schedule", and the last time they played an OOC game outside of Florida was September 21, 1991 @Syracuse and they lost to the Orange 38-21. Outside of FSU, they play no one of note OOC and until they do that, they will be tainted as a team that played no one of note OOC outside of FSU. If you want us on the schedule every 2-3 years, I can live with that.
Make no mistake, this is easily Al Golden's biggest game in his tenure to date. This is a watershed game for UM. This is a chance to announce to the nation that The U is BACK to stay as a National Power. Winning this game against that team from a conference that has won the last 7 BCS titles (Florida twice in a 3 year stretch), would be a statement win and a validation win for Golden that all that hard work, and the tireless recruiting in the face of the NCAA BS is finally paying off.

This win would be the biggest FU to the NCAA big time.

Thoughts on the Baseball team's loss to Florida in the Super Regionals

Its Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 and I'll still sick to my stomach over how we let Saturday Night's game get away from us. I don't mind losing if Florida was the better team, but to lose the way we did by committing 7 errors, its absolutely inexcusable. I don't know what else to say about that except we gave them the game on a silver platter and that's the part that really pisses me off. This loss is going to hurt for quite a while. Not much else to say on that, there really isn't. I'm behind the CANES win or lose and It's still all about the U! GO CANES

Thoughts on Florida game from 2008

I was at this game last year up in Gainesville and I have to tell you, being up there in the "Swamp" is quite an experience, that's for sure. I've been to Tallahassee twice (2001 and 2005), but being in Gainesville is a different animal.

As for the game, I saw the replay again today and the play that stuck out in my mind was the Carl Moore play late in the 3rd quarter. I saw the replay the next morning on Breakfast with the Gators and again today on ESPNU. The reason the refs overturned that call was because his left elbow was in-bounds. At best, that's inconclusive, but it is what it is.

A few plays later, a Pass interference penalty on Randy Phillips gave UF 4 new downs and on the 2nd third and Goal play, the refs missed a holding penalty on Cooper for holding Grant. I was bummed, but the killer was Hankerson's drop on 3rd down at 16-3 UF. That play would have given the Hurricanes a 1st down and would have kept the drive they had going alive.

The bottom line was that the offense couldn't move the ball. Robert Marve showed his inexperience and poor playcalling by then OC Patrick Nix. I don't blame the D for that loss in Gainesville, that loss is on Nix's playcalling and Marve's inexperience.
